Lenten Project

As usual, the Parish will be running a Lenten Project to raise funds for a worthy cause. This year’s selected charity is ‘Christian Blind Mission’ (CBM).

Every day, women, men and children in poor communities go blind because of diseases or conditions that could have been avoided. CBM prevent blindness and restore sight in the poorest places of the world by tackling eye diseases, training doctors and health care workers and carrying out sight-restoring surgeries.

Events

We have already arranged a number of fundraising events which we hope will encourage people to support the project.

Sunday 10^th March – Adult’s Film Night – “Of God’s and Men”

Tickets cost £8.00 and include a light supper of Lasagne and salad with tea & coffee. Please bring your own drinks and snacks. Tickets on sale after the morning Masses in the Hall today and in the sacristy after the 5.00pm Mass

Sunday 17^th March – Céad Míle Fáilte

All are welcome to celebrate St Patrick’s Day at Margaret Dixon’s home, 40 Fassett Road, for Irish coffee & homemade Irish treats from 11.00am till 2.00pm.

Saturday 23^rd March – Children’s Film afternoon.

In the Hall after the Morning Masses – buy a cake for your mother on Mother’s Day!

Sunday 14th April – “The Turin Shroud and St. Raphael’s Church”

As we enter Holy Week, local historian David Kennedy will give us a talk on the Turin Shroud. 6.00pm a glass of wine & nibbles followed by the talk at 6.30pm – a suggested donation of £5.00.

Every Wednesday – Soup Lunch

Following the 12 noon Mass on Wednesdays we shall have a simple lunch of Bread & Soup in the Hall. Suggested donation of £5.00

Miserere – From Allegri to Macmillan

Saturday 30th March at 7.30pm the Merbecke Choir will perform a concert of sacred music at St. Raphael’s Church Portsmouth Road Kingston. Tickets cost £6.00 and are available either on the door or can be reserved via the Parish Office surbiton@rcaos.org.uk all profits will be donated to the Parish’s Lenten Project.
